Funny Pac-Man Frog Story

In the past I've always fed my 5" pac-man frog with hemostats, yet with his gustto, he would almost always ingest the first third of them. Because I didn't want him to become injured, I decided to feed him by hand a few minutes ago. Boy was that a bad idea! He completly ignored the superworm infront of him ,latched onto my thumb and continued to swallow it. For almost 20 minutes I waited, trying to think of something to get him off of me. Anything I did (spraying him with water, making noise/vibrations) would only make him bite harder. I was amazed at just how vice like his bite was, which made the whole ordeal quite painful. Finally I slid the only long object in reach (car key) gently down his throat, and he let go. As of right now my thumb feels sore and looks bruised. The funny thing is, even though I've been bitten by young snakes countless times (just a few pin pricks really) as well as by several angry tokays, this was an event that stands by itself... I wonder what the kids at school will say when they hear the worst bite I've ever gotten was from a frog.:) :)

Anyway this whole thing leads me to a question:
What do you guys feed your frogs mainly? I know its supposed to be not healthy to feed mostly large prey, but I've got to wonder when mine attacked my hand/thumb and ignored the crickets/worms I was feeding it. Thanks ~ Rex

I give mine crickets and nightcrawlers, alternatively. Roaches are another common food item, but I don't use 'em.
I think most keepers agree that mealworm/superworms should be fed cautiously as they are supposed to be a potential impaction risk unless you take care to feed the freshly moulted ones. I've only given him two mealworms during the entire 5 months I have had him.

Mine sometimes gets part of the forceps, but I've noticed lately that he seems to be getting more adept at plucking the food from them. He's not too big yet, about 3 inches. He's only nailed me once, but it was when he was quite small, so there was no discomfort and he and released pretty quickly when he realized that his "prey" was lofting him up into the air.
