Does anyone here have a funnel web spider? I didn't think people could buy those but a Chinese dealer has one for sale. I would like to buy one but that would be really stupid. I have no need for something that dangerous. But does anyone here have one?

Cheers,

It might be Macrothele species the chinese offering in that case they are not potent as the australian funnel web spiders in the genus Atrax and Hadronyche.

I got one of those too that Manny was selling. Very cool, builds a nice web. It's already molted. I know it's not as dangerous as the Australian kind, but it's not like I'd handle it anyway.

I was used to the funnelweb pideys of north America. By chance I came across a funnelweb of Atrax outside of Brisbane and almost had kittens on the spot. It looked exactly like what I was used to (except the 'table' area was almost 3 feet across) but the funnel was easily large enough to have put my fist into! Holy peanutbutter!

So what kind of terrarium would we be talking to make some of these kids happy? Maybe just seal off an unused room and put some windows in the walls and door?
