I swear I have encountered people infected with this fungus. Usually when I'm driving I could swear alot of these other drivers have to be infected with it by the way they drive.

That's both horrible and mind blowing at the same time.
There was a post in media the other day of an orb weaver with something like this , the spider was sitting in its web as if waiting for food but was covered in a fuzzy layer the poster said was fungus. Pretty sure it will be in the other spiders thread if you want to see, my link options are still black lol.

I can't help thinking of people diagnosed with lung fungus checking into the hospital. Hello an welcome to your new home! Treatment regimens can go on for months,

Fungal infections can be nasty to deal with. Not like you can just dehydrate the host until the infection is cleared, at least not safely.

fungus is a nightmare I avoid mold and dust . If any cage gets loaded up with fungi I remove it. Even if it’s harmless to the spider .

It's a twofold problem. First many fungi are hardy, more so than most bacteria. This is due to their job in nature; breaking down organic materials in a vast range of environments. From extreme arid deserts to swamps. Then the spores, the most serious survivalists of all living organisms on the planet - waiting around for a few years or a decade or two for that Saguaro to fall over so they can get busy or for a dry year when a stream bed dries up enough for them to grab some air, grow and help chew up the water weeds.
Simply not the organism for example you want finding a comfy living environment in the alveolus of the lungs, genitals, skin etc..
