Ok so below is what i brought from petco (i'm not buying any more but my babies have to eat so i got these until i order my rodent pro food).

how does everyone thaw out frozen food?

Do yo leave it in the bag it comes in (when you buy from petco) and put it in warm water and leave it in there over night? or do you you take it out of the bag and put all the adult mice in a a hot bowl of water and let it thaw out that way?

I use to use a heat lamp but i dont know if that worked correctly and i havent fed frozen thawed in a long time.

With jumbo rats I would put them in a tub of cold water at 5pm and feed at 9am.

With small stuff I put them in a bowl of hot water and feed in 15-20 min.

with adult mice to pinkies, you can let them just thaw to room temp if you got the time. I would (and have done) warm them with warm water and take a papertowel to dry the alittle them feed ,but thats just me.

btw warming a thawed mouse also helps to get live eaters to eat dead.

All my F/T prey items get put into a bowl of warm water. I get paranoid thinking the insides of the mice/rats will get cooked if I use any other method.
I used to have a Amazon tree boa that I had to heat up the prey item under a heat lamp to get it nice and warm right before feeding time.
My coastal carpet is such a pig, she would probably eat something cold{D .

Thanks everyone.

So what im doing now is boiling some water and imma toss the mice in there (while still in the bag so they can thaw out).

once the water gets cold I'm going to boil new water and then let them sit in that how water again..that should do it right?

(ritz where do you buy your jungles from and what kind of set up do you have it in?)

lol....leave me alone.. its good, they are eating right now without either of them bustin the mice open so its all good and everything went well lol.

They are each eating one so far. once they get that one down all the way ill see if they will each eat a second one

Warm Water. Not boiling water. Hmm, that probably didn't smell to good huh?

ballpython2 I have a coastal carpet not jungle. She is a little girl, probably 3 feet(guestimating) and is in a 20gal long with, 2 hide spots, some branches to perch and climb on(spends 80% in the "trees") and some foliage. And water dish of course.
I bought her from a vendor at the Taylor show in Michigan. She is gorgeous.Very light colored. Some of her brothers and sisters had solid stripes down there back. She was sold to me as a aberrant Coastal carpet python. I believe the vendors website is selectcaptivebred.com

I have never seen this happen.

After i fed my two babies; the male ate the mouse no problem its all the way inside him.

Something i dont get is why did he after eating the mouse go into the water dish for? he's just laying in there (floating) but his head is all the way out of the water.

should i go gently take him out?

why do they do this?

leave him alone. bothering him may cause regurgitation. obviously if he went into the bowl, he wants to be there.

My snakes often soak after eating, some times submerging their head for a couple minutes.
