I know that I am hitting a touchy subject but please dont write rude replies because I honestly dont want to hear it. I am looking for honest opinions here. Ok, so, I fed my corn snake a fuzzy mouse and it just didnt make me feel comfortable knowing what I was doing. Not that I am against the feeding of live rodents. But I was wondering if feeding pre-killed, frozen mice has less nutritional value. So basically, which is better, frozen or live?

IMO, frozen, thawed and warmed to between 95 & 100F.
Less chance of internal parasitic transfer and no threat to the snakes well being.

Live meat is no more or less nutritious than dead meat - just the same as a frozen side of beef or a cow you just killed ten seconds ago. The only difference would be if the mouse/rat was left to thaw TOO long and started to rot, I guess.

Dead prey cannot bite, frozen prey cannot generally transmit illnesses or parasites, and humane death via gas is arguably better than being crushed by a snake. Dead prey is also cheaper and can be bought in bulk, needing no long-term care...just space in the freezer.

So neither one is better than the other? Then I will check into buying them in bulk from the local pet store. Thanks both of you.
