Thought this would be a cool idea for a thread...

Ive had this guy just 13 months or so now, he was bought as a 1cm sling and is now a 5" MM. I thought seen as though I took photos of him throughout his life it would be pretty cool to document them with moulting timescales.

• 25/02/10 - 10mm
• 16/03/10 - 15mm
• 09/04/10 - 1"
• 30/05/10 - 2"
• 02/08/10 - 3"
• 09/09/10 - 3.5"
• 06/11/10 - 4"
• 11/01/11 - 4.5"
• 21/03/11 - 5"

Anyway, here's some snaps of him growing...

25/02/10 Spiderling

09/04/10

02/08/10 Juvenile

11/01/11 Sub Adult

21/03/11 Mature Male

Great photos, thanks for sharing! This makes me even more excited to watch my two little diversipes slings grow.

Small sling to MM in just over a year? That seems really fast. Were you power feeding or does this species just have a naturally short life span?

I power fed from sling to 1" then only offered appropriate sized prey items once a week to fortnightly from then on. That and the fact that I find most Avicularia males very fast growers, 13 months doesn't sound that unrealistic for this species.

Great op.

I'm motivated now to take pics of my spiders next week to document their growth.

I have an A. Diversipes and Monocentropus Balfouri in particular that the locals in the hobby around my area are eager to see mature.
