freshwater limpets

They are in my 10 gal, don't know how they got there(top, bottom view). I didn't know there was such a thing, but they looked like limpets so I typed in "freshwater limpets", show enough.

Probably Acroloxus lacustris, or a closely related species. I have seen these in my freshwater aquaria for decades. They often hitchhike in on plants.

Well I'm glad they showed up, they are doing a really good job at cleaning the glass. A month ago, in this spot, I wouldn't have been able to see this axo in the spot it's in, well maybe a little bit but not alotl. I tried scraping and rubbing with a sponge, it was a lot tougher than I thought it was but these guys are eating it up.

Interestingly, we gotta lotta little limpets in our axolotl tank too!

So kl! Don't think we get these in the uk, they've never shown up in my aquatic tanks anyway. I'm mildly jealous
