Free G. rosea

Today a friend hooked me up with a free T that his cousin didn't want anymore. I hoped it'd be a mexican variety, but figured it'd be something common as she only had 1. Anyway, I got a 5'' G. rosea and a 15 gal hex with stand for free from her. That brings my rosie count up to 5. Good news is the old rosie that I had that I sexed is a male, and the new one had a brand new molt in with her, and it's female. Breeding project? :? How big do female rosies have to be before they are mature. And with male rosies as long as they have the "hook" on their front 2 legs then they are mature for sure?

Females t's mature much younger than you would think. Full grown and mature are two totally different things. I'm sure a 5" G. rosea is ready to breed.

You've got it, and they will have little "boxing gloves" on their pedipalps too. Some species the male also changes into a different mature coloration. In G.rosea the carapace will show where they get the Rose hair common name. Very bight, shiny rose color with these, though a recent post or two show that some males lose all that flashy color they had in their youth

Freebies rule. Had pretty much the same thing happen to me last week. One of my sons friends from school told him they had T they no longer wanted. I sent the wife and him over to get it and they come back with a female rosie and a nice new 20 gallon.
Cool part is I wasn't expecting a tank at all much less one that size.
