Hey all

I was in my T-room moving a bunch of stuff, and saw these on my garbage can. At first I thought the were water droplets or something, then I noticed they were moving. I have no idea what they are or why theyre here

Grain mites, if you can bin it if you need it n can't bin it wash it in boiling water wipe down all surfaces and if you see them coming bk keep wiping eventually they will go, I had an outbreak of these after buying from a new spood food supplier they sent me infested worms 😒 , they were a pain to get rid of took a week of wiping everything with boiling water several times a day, but they did eventually go away.
I also froze the worms that came infested to make sure I killed the mites and worms before I binned the tub in the outside bin. I also put all the kitchen roll I used to wipe the bench/shelves down with boiling water straight in the outside bin, all in a tied plastic bags . Just to make sure they went away.

Yeah look like grain mites. It can happen from time to time and they’re not overtly harmful but like said above can be a real pain to knock out when it’s gets to that point.

Thank you all. Theres none on the little garbage can now, but I will wipe everything down to be safe. Is there a cleaning chemical that works well?

Alcohol is the only thing I will use to clean around with keeping tarnatulas and various other inverts. Certainly never any 'cleaning chemicals'!!

I just used boiling water although I would have thought you'd be safe wiping the bin with dish soap too I doubt it's somewhere your t's spend time so should be safe, but for t shelfs ect I would just use boiling water.
White vinegar works well too, I use it to clean empty vivs but always thoroughly rinsed out after . Because it's acidic it works great for removing water marks and arboreal wall splats, lemon works too. But for mites near t's water as hot as you can bare and get rid of any cloths you use to wipe.

I would double check your vivs if they have vanished, these things don't just vanish with no interaction to remove them and they travel further then you'd think, could be being paranoid but I would check just incase. They won't hurt your t but if your anything like me you won't want to see them missioning around your t n their viv.

Last time I had mites they just randomly appear with bolas . Then scattered I don’t see them. They probably hide under substrate too ?
