Has anyone on the board ever had experience with savannah cats they are the hybrid offspring of a serval and a domestic cat. I think im gonna stop collecting T's even though i only have one lol and start saving for a savannah cat because they can cost at least 3,000:eek: but i have always wanted a wild cat and this is the closest thing without being dangerous in my opinion. I guess im gonna have to turn some of my college party money into cool pet money lol.

do you know this from experience from what i read they have good temperments way better then a serval which is completely wild especially if they are from a later generation. I read as long as they have lots of toys and attention they are great.

I've seen bobcat domestic crosses that appeared tame and the breeder said they were. Once the domestic is crossed to the bobcat, only the crosses are bred.

I know they are gorgeous. I don't know a whole lot about their temperament, except that it is better than a serval's. I believe they actually tolerate being on a leash, if I remember correctly.

I read that they arent illegal because they are hybrids. They arent considered like an exotic cat. There are alot of breeders listed in many different states. Servals are illegal in some places because they require an exotic animal license and stuff.

I cannot deter you enough from buying one of these. First, it will destroy your house. They are half breed wild cats that will mark their territory like a wild cat by clawing everything in sight. Second, if you get a displeased one, not even mean, it will be your worst enemy. Third, you are encouraging people who mainly have profit in mind to breed a new species of animal. there are literally thousands of cats needing homes in this country, i suggest adopting one. I used ot work at a big cat refuge center and we had many bengals and savannahs. They often prove to be too much for the family to handle.
