Everybody at work knows I collect "critters". And I have been given many animals over the years, but this is a new one. I get a call from a co-worker, who says that he and his son saw this snake crossing the road (in Toledo, OH.) and scooped it into a bucket. His wife said to get rid of it, so he did! To me. So, what is it? King, Milk? Let me know please.

Milksnake (Pueblan I think). Sooo not from your area. Lucky the little guy ended with you!

We have one at work that was found in the parking lot of an urban mall in Virginia. Weird.

looks like a pueblen milk to me as well. Those guys are extreme escape artists...house it well because that most likely is how your friend came about it to begin with. Next time it gets out it might not be so fortunate to live.

This beautiful snake calmed right down, enough to have a snack in it's temporary home. What a find!

So why did the snake cross the road?

If anyone can actually come up with a funny answer to this, a shiny new dollar will be waiting for you at arachnocon.

*Maybe

To eat the chicken.

(please make all payments to my offshore bank acounts :D)

I can vouche for the pueblan milksnakes being an escape artist had clips holding the lid which fit snug but it managed to getout a small 1.2 inch gap(or thats where I believe it excaped.) (still looking for mine :wall:)

What makes you say that? :?
It may just be the lighting in the pictures, but the scales do have that fogged-over look to them that indicates an impending shed.

just to add a personal observation, this snake isn't ready to shed. It has that just shed irradescence (sp?). Now if I could get it to settle down enough to be held occassionally. Thanks for all the interest!
