At work during lunch break I found a breeding pair of Anisomorpha buprestoides in Brooksville, Florida. Found some info on them and says they are pretty common in FL, first time I have seen them though.

Gently scooped them up and currently have them inside a critter keeper hoping to get some young-in's from them.

Just wanted to share my find since my work is situated near some woods and I'm always finding new / interesting bugs.

Just be careful , If you dont know she can squirt aleast 2 feet if she gets pissed, they perfect aimers for the eyes. If she gets a good squirt into your eyes the the pain will send you to the moon, and you will be temporarily blind for about 15-45 min:D

Thanks for the heads up. I read about it on a site as well when I got home and researched them a little.

Pretty scary actually because I had these guys crawling up and down my arms all yesterday at work and luckily they didn't take any defensive measures. I think I did have a squirt when I relocated them into the critter keeper though because I did smell a rather weird odor, although it didn't come in contact with me and I believe was contained in the transport box.

Interesting little critters nonetheless.
