Found a red assassin bug...

Unfortunately I don't have a pic :( I don't even have pics of myself, LOL. Anyways, it was here in SC under a rotten log. It's bright red and fairly slim as far as assassin bugs go. Body length is maybe 3/4", very long antennae. Is there any way to tell what species this is just from this description. Sorry if I'm too vague...

That's probably not enough to go on, but does it have wings? It may be a nymph, and many assassin nymphs are brightly colored. Wheel bugs, for example, are bright red in the early instars.

Yep, can fly very well too. I just noticed something else, it has some pretty sharp looking spines on it's thorax, 4 or 5 of them. NOT wheel bug type points, mind you.
