So i have found a name for my 3" P murinus. I woke up roughly one hour ago. And the top part of the enclosure was off. And the little guy was missing. At first i panicked i thought someone would have stepped on him. Or he was gone in a dark corner and i wouldn't find him. ( My house has lots of dark corners lol) But then i calmed my self down and i asked if i were a tarantula where would i go.... I left my light on and closed the door in my room for about a half an hour or so.. I cam back in and bam there he was on the light LOL. I quickly grabbed my catch cup and placed him there gently. I then modified my cage with some cardboard so he couldn't slip out again. ( My cage is missing a plastic piece on the front edge of it. where he was able to squeeze through ) All in all it worked out well for the spider and myself. ( Surprised i wasn't bitten my bed is 1 foot from his enclosure. )

And if your wondering what his name is now. "Andy Dufrain" From my favorite film "The Shawshank Redemption" He definitely pulled a Houdini on me. I felt like the warden in the movie where Andy escapes. One night he is checked in for lights out.... the next morning he is gone with the wind. Like a magician.

So heres to Andy :)

I would modify the cage with something a lot stronger than cardboard. Tarantula's have been known to chew their way through wire mesh!!!!!

Well its just Temporary at the moment. Im planning on getting a nicer enclosure for him anyways. Within the next week most likely. It will hold until then though. :)

Well done. That's how you find them; keep your wits about you and try to think like a spider.

And yeah, that cardboard fix probably won't hold for long...

I love when they get creative names like that! That's how I ended up with a P. cambridgei named Giacomo {D

Congrats on finding the escapee safe and sound!

I'd be cautious in the future, don't let him hang up any posters in his enclosure.:)
