Hi everyone,

a friend found a wild Mantis religiosa in his warehouse, I took it with the idea of release she in the next summer (is getting cold outside, and my friend didn't want to share the warehouse with an insect  ).. is it a good idea? Or those creatures can live during the cold temperatures? (I live in central europe).

I did a video about it, maybe someone can rate my enclosure? I put inside some twig, I need to add some dried long grass?

Thanks!

Feel free to keep her. She would die normally, you’re doing her a favor by extending her life. Do ya know how to care for em? You can put the ooth outside of you want as well.

Great idea! Mantids sure do love mosquitos, and the more food the more likely they will make it to adulthood.

so a quick update, the ootheca is now in another jar with more umidity. It is now the start of the third week.

Reading online I discoverd that a Mantis religiosa can lay several ootheca during the life, someone know how many days should pass between an ootheca and the other?

Thanks,

About a month between ooths. The first one should hatch soon.

my Mantis religiosa just did a second ootheca today  only 15 days between the first and this ootheca.

There is any chance of "ghost" ootheca or not fertilized eggs?

Yes, it’s unlikely if she’s wild caught as an adult though.

An unfertilized ootheca have a strange shape, correct?

This second sac have the same shape of the first one, just a little less long of the first one (2.5cm against 1.5cm).

Thanks for the info!
