Bathynomus giganticus lives off the Gulf of Mexico and the South Atlantic coast of the U.S. Like many deep-sea animals, it is larger than its shallow-water relatives.

 rather damn impressive to me considering the common land isopods most of us are used to seeing any of you folks out there ever seen any of these up for grabs?:?

Holy Crap!
That looks like something out of a bad Sci-Fi movie!
I wonder if one could keep these in a fishtank? I wonder if there would be pressure issues; since they apparently come from deep water?

That is one very neato bug!

yes thank you  for that i'm an insomniac:? and didn't think about that at the moment :worship:

well as far as presser issues i wouldn't think it would matter i have heard some of the deeper sea life as far as inverts go can with stand the slow presser change from deep to shallow waters the real question would be if you could find them up for sale could A:afford them being a true "exotic" and B: how big would the resulting colony end up? might have to think bout getting an in ground pool just to house them all! lol i have a terrestrial colony that i have to cull back via centipede feedings i can only imaging how many you would end up with after two seasons
