Floppy crowns

Can someone tell me why some of my adult male ghost mantids have the very tops of their crowns flopping over? I've seen them in final molt and they are no where near bumping the bottom.

The first 2 are of the same male. The last pic is a different male but you can see how dark his crow is also...
