I am considering getting a large aquarium with an assortment of fresh water fish as a display/pets/new possible hobby. Does anybody know of a reliable, active, free, and friendly forum that I can join dedicated solely to keeping fish in aquariums etc? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks guys,

monster fish keepers :)
Those guys come across as a bunch of elitist meatheads most of the time.

OP, try seriouslyfish.com or plantedtank.net if you want a good place to get started. SF.com is mostly european/british people, so plantedtank.net might be a better choice if you are unfamiliar with metric units.

I visited the forums at fishprofiles.com a lot a few years ago when I had fish. Nice people, very welcoming. They've got a chat room, too.

Thanks guys! I found one. This is going to be harder than I thought to get into the fishkeeping hobby. Its like starting all over again as a newbie. Hopefully it will be worth it in the end.

There's aquariacentral.com and aquaticcommunity.com
Those two are good as well.

One piece of advice I have for the OP is to pick a biotope to model their first tank after; that way they have an idea of which fish and plants to pick that will work together without having to do as much research (i.e., Amazon river = tetras, Corydoras sp., etc.).
