The first wasps of the year are out, actually they have been out longer but this is the first batch I have managed to photograph, most of the pics are of them wood gathering, at least three separate foundresses. Also I found a nest starting up with THREE foundresses!
First the nest.
Random wasps wood gathering: Most were calm enough to let me get up close.
Some of these pics feature the same wasp, they are in no particular order. I will be following the progress of that 3 foundress nest....
Wasps in the photos are Polistes fuscatus, the northern paper wasp.
