So the past year has been my first time owning prey mantis as pets and I observe them daily and I try to maintain them as well as possible but every once and awhile they’ll do things that concern me. I haven’t had one live to full term and it’s very disheartening they all eventually have a molting problem either in their very last molt or the second to last. Right now I have one that just molted this morning and one I had an issue with last molt now they’re both hovering above the ground and it’s making very scared that somethings wrong. I’m just wondering if I should be worried or if this is something they naturally do?

I don’t keep mantis, but typically in invertebrates molting issues stem from moisture issues. Maybe give them moist substrate on one side? Perhaps someone who keeps them could say better than me but if they’re having molting problems my first thought would be lack of moisture.
