First Sling (and now he's not eating)

So I purchased a 0.5cm Pumpkin Patch sling at the end of June and he (no gender confirmed I just give T's random pronouns until I know) has had a molt with me so far. He is now around 1cm. I have just rehoused him for the first time a week ago, and he's refused food. However he did not eat the week before as well. I know slings are fragile so perhaps he's given up? I'm not sure. I have 20 T's, all Juvies or Sub-Adults minus this sling as I am (obviously) anxious. His abdomen looks decently round... He did kick hair at me after I removed the mealworm (left for 24 hours) so he's still spunky. PHOTO-2024-09-25-21-03-43.jpg

No worries, He looks plump.
Take uneaten prey out, and keep Water available.

Well. Maybe hes into smaller food now. Sometimes slings get intimated by big prey. Theres also a lot of leaf litter everywhere.

maybe remove a few leaves and try a pinhead cricket.

if its eating oversized prey, it can prolonge the space between feedings and pre-molt.

the enclosure looks big. Might just be me.

I have bigger slings in smaller enclosures.

Have you looked at how damn fat your T is??????? It's fatter than the Sun, and you expect it to eat? They are NOT eating machines cmon man.

Usually it’s Jupiter now this one is fatter than the Sun. Slow metabolism + big prey equals a fat spider that refuses food.

Thank you so much! I really just needed some reassurance that he looks okay.

Our tarantulas are usualy way better then we are. They know their needs. Our job is to provide.

Id avoid mealworms for a while if its not eating. Next thing you know they will be burying and haunting your enclosures.

I always chop them up. 😃 so they can’t bury or dig or attack .

So I have 2 Socotra Balfouri slings the size of a pinky nail and what I did to feed them is cut a cricket and half the next day I saw them scavenge. When I see them plump I don’t feed they should molt pretty soon due to how small they are. Hope this helps

Everyone already said it, so I don't need to.
I'll tell you that those guys seem to hit the gas out of the blue, & quadruple in size. Mine spends a lot of time out & about, which is cool because I hate pet holes, but even if it IS hiding, it emerges with the slightest disturbance to investigate

Great success I was able to get my tweezers against the wall and somewhat scoop out the little mold I threw a few spring tails in there maybe they will get some cleaning done the enclosures are temporary until they get somewhat bigger and I’ll transfer them in a more natural enclosure at some point.
