i think i'm going to call my O. aureotibialis "Houdini" from now on.
so i had her in a large round KK, but it was dirty and she only used a small part of the tank, making it a prime target for redecoration in order to make room for another T. i'd gotten a medium round KK and removed the ornaments and most of the dirt besides her burrow from the large one. everything was going as planned.
but the webbed dirt clod was empty.
i looked in shock at the bin i store coconut fiber dirt in, realizing that she found her way into there somehow. commence one messy situation where i'm sifting through every bit of dirt, looking for a probably very pissed-off old world. after going through almost everything in there, i'd somehow managed to get some dirt in another KK and was looking through there. i was pouring it slowly back into the bin, when she darted out of the dirt pile and towards my hand. knee-jerk reaction caused me to drop the tank. luckily, my panic didn't make me try to smash her, but instead, i jumped back in surprise. but i had a new problem now: she vanished.
i looked around, but i didn't find her. my eyes saw her dart towards my foot when i dropped the tank (once again, my knee-jerk was the lesser of two evils), so i suspected she crawled into my pants even though i didn't feel anything. so i undid my belt. it was at that second that i noticed a familiar silhouette between my bed and a bookshelf, which were about a foot away from where i was working. after a big sigh of relief and a bit of dragging things out of the way, i caught her in the Tupperware i was going to get her into at the beginning of all this. now she's safe and sound in her new KK.
back when i had a Poecilotheria rufilata, he crawled onto the outside of his container so this wasn't TECHNICALLY my first problem, but it's way more of an interesting story and the first time i legitimately lost track of it.
