First is my b.auratum, it loves to climb on the metal screen top. Since I can't open the tank without having it fall this is the best shot I can take.

haha?
I thought metal screens were a bad idea? and hows about loosing your T to a fall... just how deep is the substrate below it?
Looks like wood chips?? in the second pic. I was under the impression this was also a bad idea.

nice spiders ... bad habbits.

Nice pictures. I use a welded screen for my tops. It avoids the "pinch point" that is possible with a woven screen. Only one of mine is a regular to the lid, that would be my Chaco. Actually the stuff I used is refered to as hardware cloth Built all the lids...actually had one of my employees build them and all the shelves.

>>the type of metal screening he's using is fine. It's the metal screening that's like window screening that's hazardous to your T's.They can easily hook up their claws in the fine mesh/window type screen....peace..

The metal screen is a bad idea but its feet hasn't gotten stuck yet (size of it maybe? or is too young to have those hooks on the feet?). Whichever the case it seem to be fine at the moment.

The fall would be 6-7". It has made a jump more then once, no problems yet. But I am sure once it gets bigger it will become more of a problem. But that won't matter much anymore since I am gonna move it. I made a mistake in getting a 10gal, but its now more like an excuse to get me emp scorpions :p .

As far as the substrate I don't think its wood chips, maybe it is, but it all came out of the "Jungle Mix" bag. I have already been suggested to change to "Bed-A-Beast" type, so that will change with the move also. This still my 1st month in the hobby so I still got lots to learn. ;) Even through I was already corrected by someonelse thanks for pointing out the mistakes. :)

I use screen lids for all of my T's in 5 Gallons or bigger. I used to have a problem with my Seemani getting stuck so I raised the substrate to the point where no matter where she climbed she could still reach the ground and get herself unstuck, I havent had any problems with any of the others and none of the others climb on to the lids that I have seen.

peace

Both of these Ts burrowed too for the first week I had them. The temp was close to 90F here, but now that its cooler they come out and play alot more. I think temps has to do with it somewhat.

I use a welded screen lid for my adult campestratus. She's on the screen every night, but never gets stuck. She does fall occasionally, but its only a fall of about 7", onto semi-moist peat. I still don't know why she has such arboreal tendencies tho.
