Hey guys! I’ve been looking into getting a jumping spider and wanted to ask for any recommendations and help. I have two t’s but they’re both terrestrial so I don’t have experience with arboreal.

I heard the Phidippus regius is good for beginners but I’d like to hear your thoughts.

I’m also not sure how to find the right size enclosure for it. The one I’m considering getting is a 1/2”.

I like P. regius and P. audux, both are easily available and very easy to care for. They're some of the most personable spiders and have a good degree of vision and intelligence.

You want to keep them in a taller container so they can climb around. They will RARELY ever walk the floor, so you don't need much floor space. Provide some fake plants, twigs, and a water dish.

For a guy grown jumper ~1.5" you can use a medium Amac box or a deli cup.

Phidippus regius are available cheaply everywhere, forgive mistakes and are fun. Was also my first jumping spider. If you want something a little more unusual and can get some, Hyllus walckenaeri is an equally easy species to keep, but the males just look super funky!
I keep them in 15 x 15 x 25 cm glass enclosures... I only use the plastic waste - if at all - for breeding!
