Can fire bellied newts be kept in the same tank as african albino clawed frogs?

The reason I ask is because I now have an empty tank since my scorpion died, and I wanted something new to put in it.

I went to my nearest pet store and saw that they had fire bellied newts and african albino clawed frogs, and I immediately decided I wanted them.

They were in seperate tanks (the frog was in a tank with some fish, and the newts were all housed together), so I'm wondering if this is because newts can't be kept in the same tank with anything else?

1) Fire-bellied newts secrete toxins from their skin and will happily eat any other creature they can fit in their mouths.

2) Clawed frogs, like all amphibians, are particularly vulnerable to absorbing any toxin or pollutant through their skin. They will also happily eat any other creature they can fit in their mouths, so if sharing water with a fire-bellied newt doesn't poison them, eating it will.

Mixing species at random is almost always a really terrible idea.

EDIT: Also, are you positive your current tank is suited for being full of water? I don't know about overseas, but as I understand it here there is a definite difference between tanks meant for fish and tanks suitable only for land-animal use. Not all tanks are watertight or capable of not cracking under the tremendous weight/pressure of large amounts of water.
