Great video...

When you put up YouTube vids you only have to put up the last string (CvbsRgjO3A4) within the youtube brackets.

Just last night mine molted (the one in my video). She must be atleast 3.5+" now... Not sure what I'll do when she reaches 6+" ahhhhhh....

I want more pokies but I'm concerned about their venom, having a 2 yr old and one due in April. Guess that is an incentive to build a secure T room, atleast thats how I'll sell it to my wife ;)

nice rehousing vid! Something I've noticed helps during a rehousing is to remove all of the decor from their current enclosure.

+1 Thats what I do. They will become less secure when their surroundings changed and they become easier to manage.
Of course with my custom enclosures I don't have the luxury of taking out the furniture so they are usually permanent enclosures so I won't have to worry about that.

Plus they don't have anything to hide in/under/behind. The only one this didn't work well with was my P. regalis, he FLIPPED when I took his corkbark out, I ended up having to give him a day or so to calm down before I could do the rehousing.

Thanks yall :)

The decorations in his old enclosure were hot glued in lol so they weren't going anywhere very easily... but normally I do the same!

Mvskokee - Out of all my Ts, a pokie is like.. #1 that I don't want lose in my house with all my dogs and a two year old LOL so yeah, a little shakey!

Thanks Forrest! The other vids I've posted, were with the whole URL.. so I was confused haha

Nice job on the transfer Jairi!!! Never thought I'd see you nervous about a Pokie transfer, LOL!!! Makes me curious as to how high you're going to jump when and if you're up here by the time I'm ready to rehouse my S. cal.........

Ariel does make a good point, and I am inclined to agree (on both the point, and the reitiration of your well-deserved kudos):

nice rehousing vid! Something I've noticed helps during a rehousing is to remove all of the decor from their current enclosure.
Additionally, when I set up an enclosure, I always leave a good bit of open space as a "working area" for corralling and capturing the animal. This way, I don't destroy any more of the setup than I absolutely have to in order to get the job done.

However (despite not removing any decor), you could have saved yourself alot of time and headache by taking the lid off the old enclosure, and then manipulating the spider into the top of the new enclosure. But that's my 0.02....... ;P

Glad everything went well and you don't have to be rescued from the bite ward!!!! :p

lol thanks Steve :p

Like I said.. the decor was glued in - to a stick. lol it wasn't going to go anywhere easily, without potentially really spooking the spider (and I would have had to use my hands to get it out )

The lid to the new enclosure was much larger than the old enclosure.. I don't like leaving any room for the T to escape like some people do, no matter what the species lol

I wasn't that nervous :p

You're very welcome!!!

I kind of figured as much, LOL. No sense in doing something like that bare-handed unless you're comfortable with the idea. (I actually did a bare-handed retrieval of Desirae's molt last night....wasn't even thinking about it until afterwords, LOL)

True, that is the safest way to transfer......but where's the fun in that?? LOL!!!!

No, but you still were nervous......;P (TBH, I still get a bit nervous working with my Psalmos and OWs. But it's ones like Desirae and Lilith who are fully willing and capable of providing me with a truly frightening experience that quicken my heart-rate, LOL)

Thanks Arachno, I really appreciate it :)

:p Steve! Just wait until I do an OBT rehousing vid.. you won't see a single bit of nervousness! It helps to "know" the T, and I don't "know" Sly that well lol

So that would be like me rehousing my P. irminia, right??? Take him out bare handed, play with him while talking about how cool he is, take a few pics, talk some more about how really ultra-cool he is, and then throw him in the new tank???? AWESOME!!!!! LOL!!! :D

You're absolutely right, Jairi. Knowing your T is the key to successfully working with them. If you truly know your tarantula, you are confident. As I posted last night in the Tarantula Taming thread: Any T can appear to be "tame" in the hands of a keeper who knows their tarantula.

Sweet rehousing Teal. I think I'm going to have to get a net, I alway use a cup, but the net seems to be smarter to slide into smaller spaces. Great job!:)

Thanks MarSea! :)
As someone pointed out in one of my threads - nets do have their dangers, because tarsus claws can get stuck (and you can get bit through the net, of course).. but I personally haven't had a problem with them.

Steve... it's all about knowing what to expect! lol
