I'm in there with those who think she is gravid too. Do you plan to sell the slings? I thin the coloration of the New River's are by far the most gorgeous of the desert Ts.

That is A. moderatum, cmon, Sky is like the goddess of A. moderatum ;)...

Anyways, i am one of the weirdos who believe the Aphonopelma sp. "New River" are much more sexy than A. moderatum, i have seen both in person, and the "New River" gets my pick any day.... even if it could possibly just be a variation of A. chalcodes ;)....

The only T that beats them both is A.mooreae in my book.... now if only i could get some of that top secret agent the government uses in interrogations on someone who may know the location of A.mooreae..... j/k

Cheers

i keep hoping mine will molt so i can make my decision based on freshly molted examples lol but for now even the washed out A. moderatum beats the new river hands down.

I don't know if I've seen the New River in person, maybe I have in a pet store here in Austin. It could be a little hyped up right now. I think I would go for the A. mod if I saw them both for the first time and they were next to each other.

Alright Sky, you changed your avatar. I like that one ...too. hehe

Nice moderatum but...........

Then you obviously havent seen these.... ;)

I have seen both as fresh shed adults and the New River spiders have got my vote, the color is more vibrant and doesnt fade as much/quickly as it does w/ moderatum and the new river spiders tend to get alot bigger than mod's as well, pix dont realy do either species justice but check it out.........

Depends

Depends on who your asking I guess, if I had $175 and had to drop it on one or the other Id take the better looking of the two, I'd first ask if they would take $220 for both and if that didnt work I'd be the guy walking away w/ the New River in his hands, it is pretty close, untill I found the New River colony, A. mod. was my favorite Apho. its still a close second but look at the pix, its a prettier spider even without considering the adult size differance and general temperment, add those in and its no contest IMO. PEACE, B.

That IS a neat looking spider. I've seen some big moderatums though. They can be bigger and/or more brightly colored depending on the locality. I have been shown some very dull looking ones too. I've got a colorful female, this pic was probably taken a month or two after a molt. She was underground when she did so I don't really know, I'm guessing in April. She hasn't changed much and is on a sac right now. I'm interested in seeing post molt pics of that BobT.
