I was tagged today.
By a cricket. No venom of course.
But, those things can bite hard when they want to.

awesome.....my roommate was tagged once by what he thought was a cricket, until his arm bruised and swelled up to the point of his skin being shiny...then someone had informed him they lost an OBT by our cricket bin lmao.

Jerusalem cricket, dude. ;P

That smarts!

I've also been bitten by some kind of small water bug I found under a lake rock. Hurt worse than a bee sting!

I was feeding my slings last week when 2-3 crickets got out (about a 3/8" in size or so). Not thinking anything of it about an hour later I felt this very painful pinch and yanked pretty hard only to see a tiny little bugger looking up at me. What a little punk!

yep crix suck...I reach in and out of the lividums and dificils cage all the time and never get jumpy but I hate it when the crix get loose and crawls up my arm and stuff...nasty lil' buggers...I love to see them diapear into the T tanks! the only good cricket is a cricket digesting inside a tarantula!

B. dubia can draw blood with their leg spines. Not a lot but still, blood nonetheless.

LOL my fingers and hands are so calloused over from my job and hobbies, I wonder if I could even feel a cricket bite anymore?

Speaking of which, there's a cricket on the wall right above my head now. I'm not sure how that got out?

I was bit by one too, it was more shocking than anything. It was some pregnant female cricket I was about to feed to our Dolomedes tenebrosus. I wasn't impressed. He didn't eat her either...she laid her eggs then drowned. Serves her right.

Am I the only one amused that a bunch of "scary spider" owners are talking about how evil "innocent little crickets" are?

Just thinking about the view from the outside on this one LOL

Since I work in a store, I'm around crickets all the time. In fact, I'll be standing around minding my own business and an escapee makes his way out of his hiding spot in my shirt or bra or something. I've gotten used to it. My manager however keeps getting bit by the roaches. She said her truce with them has been violated.

I hate crickets with a passion. I only keep a bare minimum to feed them to my few picky T's that don't like dubia. They smell horrible, they bite and they move too damn fast.
I have to chase them around for a minute with tongs before I can get a good grab on the leg. I avoid just grabbing wildly because most of the aforementioned picky T's won't eat non moving stuff.

Hahaha!! It's like "Oooo, a Haplo! I'm going to handle it!" Then "A cricket!? Ick, don't come near me!"

<<<<<<<<<<< boredom + caffeine is not a good mix for her.

As I said on a feeders thread, I've had a variety of very stinky insect pets (some worst than crickets. Ever smell a group of 10 earwigs or more? BLAH!!) so crickets have been a step down.

Had a field cricket when I was a lot younger in a cute little crafted wooden box I called my lucky cricket.... cricket wasn't so lucky though... :(

The title says it all, that's why I am going to attempt my first ever colony (have never ever had roaches until my expected delivery tomorrow), and hopefully say goodbye to nasty smelly crickets with their nasty bite forever lol
