I have never had the genus Avicularias in my collection. Though they are so popular, never thought about actually getting them. Than the heavens opened up and a beam of light shined down on me and I was rewarded with 3 of them from Miss Bianca. (She is the greatest!)
I am now the proud owner of the following Avicularias:
A. avicularia
A. metallica
A. versicolor
I absolutely love the way they walk and the fact that they can jump was shocking. They jumped from one finger to the next while walking on my hands! And the accuracy in catching prey IN THE AIR is astonishing!!!!
I made them new homes and wanted to share my joy! Containers are from The Container Store (local to me) and the decoration is from Michaels. The grass is an artificial type that looks great! Its called Clay pot Topper. It is very pourous so the Sphagnum peat moss (substrate) can ventilate through it.
Here are the 3 enclosures and a picture of my Versicolor sling (favorite). The other two look almost alike for now. I may get the A. minatrix to add to my collection since I have started with this genus.
I normally don't go for arboreals but these just intrigued me.
