Very interesting report, reminds me of similar snakes further north. Like the Red-Sided Garter snake and its favorite prey item the extremely toxic Rough Skinned Newt of which there are no other predators that can eat them anywhere. The trade off for the only animal that can eat these extremely toxic species of newt is that they become very lethargic and could possibly become prey themselves. Although eating an animal full of poison often does not usually work out to well!

Also you want to see some interesting feeding behavior, I should send you a video of my Psammophis sibilans and Psammophis mossambicus eating, they are amazing!
