Hi,
I keep googleing this, but I keep getting people comparing the tarantulas hairs to fibreglass... So google doesn't help :(

I am trying to get some sling containers set up, I have some spare glass jars (like used when canning food) but I didn't want to use the metal lids in case it would hurt the slings. So my grandpa had some spare fibreglass screen.

So I was going to use the fibreglass screen in all the sling containers so they could get proper ventilation while not getting out.

Its NewYorkWire chorcoal fibreglass screening. Part number: 33117

It does kind of stink, so I am a bit worried about that.

If it may pose a threat to anything I can just use different containers and just drill tiny holes in it.

I only use metal screening. I've heard of tarantulas chewing through the fiberglass variety.

It wouldn't be good if all my slings got out ;)

I might just stick with drilling holes smaller than the slings. I got plenty of small plastic containers.

Determined spiders can get through metal screens too. Clicky

I don't think your average keeper needs to worry about using metal mesh though unless you know you have a naughty spider. ;)

Haha! Never seen that one before. Luckily none of mine have ever tried that hard before.

I think the bigger concern is crickets. I've seen many people have issues with crickets chewing through plastic screen which is why I use aluminum

Crickets are a nuisance ;) I still use them though, my mom is allergic to roaches.

I don't know how big these tiny slings will be, so I am going to drill the holes after they hatch and are ready to divide.

My wolf spider escaped one time when I didn't realize how big the holes were. I caught it though.

They are A. avicularia (The female was sold to me as "pinktoe" so I am guessing its that ;))

I will see what drill bits my dad has, I know nothing about tools or cars :sarcasm: :giggle: ;)
