My 3 female roaches rest with their wings elevated off their abdomen, their not open just raised. The roaches are virgin. What is this behavior?

I was just watching a bunch of male discoids display to females by raising their wings and getting in their faces. Are you sure they are female?

This wasn't resting behavior, it was very active and pretty obviously a sexual display.

I agree. The males of all four of my Blaberus species do the exact same thing with their wings when they want to breed. :)

No i'm 100% positive they are all females. They dont fight either, thats a trait of the males.

Interesting, I have never seen any of my females in this type of activity. I leave mine 100% alone except for every 3rd day to feed and water. I will watch next time I feed and water to see if my females do that with their wings. :)

Mine are Blaberus Giganteus, make sure you have that species.
It very well could be a species specific thing. I only have these four Blaberus species...

parabolicus
discoidalis
craniifer
fusca

...so I could in no way comment on the giganteus. There are several roach breeders/suppliers who frequently post in this forum that have the giganteus species. Maybe one of them would be able to comment on this female activity for you. :)

I have watched this behavior for the past week, and I see some new things. Now when they do this they make their abdomens very slender, like if they were in a thin crevice. They also seem to do a pushing motion, like they are trying to expell something, mabye air or pheremones?
