Hi!
I'm trying to breed my B. emilia. I have an adult male and an adult female. The female molted two months ago. I've tried a few times with the same results: the male shakes and drums like crazy when I put him in her terrarium, but the female doesn't respond, and when he gets close to her, she runs away from him. :( I have no idea what's wrong. The male is also fresh. I'm currently trying shark tanking, but I don't think it's working very well. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Just keep trying. How long are you shark tanking for? I like to do 2-3 days.

Typically if you mate in the Fall it will be better. After mating give the female 1 to 3 months cool time and before warming her up, flood about half the substrate while keeping the other half dry.

For the first time, I used the shark tanking method for 2 days. Then, I tried to breed them a few times, but it didn’t work. Today, after another unsuccessful breeding attempt, I decided to try this method again for another 2-3 days. But as you said I will try again after few days. Thanks!

Could it be that she doesn't want to breed because she's out of season?

Is she still eating or refusing food? Do you have any pictures of her and her setup?

They are very shy, try to do it at night in the dark. I did mine in the closet so he was contained but could find her enclosure in his own. Just have to sit back, be still and patient. Minimize disruptions including wind/fans.

Different genus, but I put some of his web near her burrow entrance a couple different times over the couple weeks leading up to it. She seemed to be “seeking him” the second time.
