I have two "cellar spiders" that I'm keeping right now, and have some questions about feeding... when I fed the first one the first time, I just gave him(her?) a moth I caught in the house... a few days later (Saturday), I caught my second spider, and bought some small crickets from petco. I gave four to the larger one, and three to the smaller... the larger spider ate 3 the first day, and still has one left. The smaller one has eaten one each day, and is now working on his last one. Should I just buy seven crickets a week for each of them, then? They are both nice and plump right now... I don't want to overfeed, but I don't want to starve them, either... I know these aren't really "pet" spiders, and there isn't a whole lot of information online about them, but I find them beautiful, and I really enjoy watching them. I just want to give them the best care possible...

judge off their butts

assume their butts are at maximum full right now. watch when they start to shrink... and feed them again

i suspect you are feeding more than you need to

okay. thats how i was doing it at first, but i didn't want to buy less than 6 crickets at once, and i don't have a place to store extras, so i just split them between both...

with only two spiders you can probably catch wild food for them

in the morning flies are chilled and easy to catch. i used to have a dozen or so true spiders that i would catch bugs for every week

we have 9 cats in the house, so finding bugs in the house isn't so easy, and i'm not much of an outdoors person to even want to try catching outside... if i catch a bug in the house, i'll toss it in with the spiders, but the crickets are sort of my fall back plan...

Hi,

If you can buy flymaggots in the local fishing shop that also perfect and cheap to feed your Pholcidae spiders. These long legged devils not too fastidious. They often catch other spiders too...

I take these shoots in our stairway. P. phalangioides vs. bulky Gnaphosidae.

They also dangerous for the escaped young tarantulas...
