Feeding mealworms question

Had to make a run to petsmart today for crickets. I do what I always do with going shopping that requires me to drive, I call ahead to see if they have what I need. The guy there tells me they have crickets in stock. I get there and they tell me they had been out for awhile already. So the girl there told me to try some mealworms. Now my question is how should I feed it to my Ts? Cut them up? Right now I have placed 1 mealworm on a little waterdish but I don't see the Ts taking interest in the worm at all. Is there some trick to it? Kill the worm? Cut it up?

How big is your T? If it's a good size self sufficient T then leave it on a dish so it can't burrow or drop it right in front of you T so it can see it move and knows its there. Thats all I have ever done with meal worms unless its for a sling the I cut it in half.

I had 2 Ts, 1 is about 1" and other is about 2". I haven't feed the smaller one because it just went thru a moult like 3 days ago. Should I cut up the worms for the 1" one when he/she is ready to eat again? I think the 2" one shouldn't have a problem with the worms.

i cut the mealworms up by body segment it makes it much easier than handleing smaller crix and if you drop em in the enclosure right in front of the t they will usually attack it also if your local petstore is out of crix a good place to get em is a bait and tackle shop they are usually cheaper than petsmart

I just read somewhere that mealworms alone doesn't provide enough of nutrition for Ts. Is this true? Oh and my T walked over the mealworm a few times and didn't even touch it, I just cut it into pieces gotta see what it does now.

I believe that may be the case for some insect eating lizards and such, but I've not heard that with T's. At any rate, even if they don't provide a complete nutrional balance required by T's, your T's should be fine eating them until you can acquire some crickets. Leave the mealworm in the T's enclosure overnight. If it is still there 24 hours later, remove it. Some T's like them, some don't. Prior to having enough slings to justify buying 1,000 baby crickets, I fed my slings cut-up mealworms exclusively. I've never had a problem with it.
