This is my first post and I’m not even sure I’m doing it correctly… So bear with me… Found a garden spider between my kitchen screen and crank window after it was already freezing outside. Have been able to feed it flies so far, but none are coming out due to Very cloudy weather for quite some time. Read that mealworms would be good. now I am wondering if I have to crush the mealworms head and then try to put it in the web with tweezers?? Wish I’d known about having to crush heads before I bought, if that is the case. Thanks for any help!

The crushing heads is more for a spider that can leave itself vulnerable when it molts, but it might help it not escape the web as easily. As long as it sticks in the web and is an appropriate size it should be fine.

You're welcome. Good luck, not sure how old it is but being winter, if it's an adult it might not live long, and that's just how it goes, nothing you do can change that fact, they're just a 1 year spider usually. Used to really upset me as a kid.
