I went to a reptile show yesterday...just looking to see what all they had and possibly adding another crested gecko to my family. As I walked around, these little blue creatures caught my eye and I was enthralled just watching them. I had never even heard of Blue Death Feigning Beetles so I had a ton of questions for the seller. Realizing that I had everything they needed (except food) at home because of the extra items I had left over that I once used for my crested gecko, I decided to purchase two of them.

There is more information about them on the internet than I thought there would be (since I had never heard of them), but there is some different opinions on what to feed them as a staple food. I know certain veggies/fruits are offer ever so often (from what I've read they get their moisture from them), but as a staple/daily food I've seen dogfood, freeze dried food such as shrimp/dubia roaches/meal worms, fish food, as well as other items recommended.

What do you use as a staple/daily food from your blue death feigning beetles?

Thank you for your help!

Dead dried insects, dog food, and other protein rich foods are usually offered as the staple diets for Asbolus. They really aren't too picky.

Echoing what Hisserdude said; they're not picky at all. So far I've found that my beetles love the Repashy meal replacement powder, plus when hydrated it can act as a source of water for them, and it keeps well, too. This is just my personal preference since storage is an issue for me and their food is in a little bottle, haha. They eat dead insects and plant matter in the wild, so as long as you have a source of protein for them with some vegetation here and there, you're golden.
