I bought two female pet rats from the exotics shop (they were selling them as feeders). I've been working on socializing them for a few days, and they are starting to get very calm and affectionate. Rats make great pets, intelligent, affectionate, and unlike mice and gerbils and hamsters, they won't ever bite you (unless you happen to get a particularly mean individual, I've never been bitten by a pet rat, and these are not my first), and will learn to not poop/pee on you.
These girls still need names.
