Hi. I need help with feeding my GBB. I am currently own dubia roaches and mealworms. My GBB is almost 3”. So far when I tried to feed her dubia, she had a poor reaction. I fed her .75” dubia. Should I try bigger dubia or switch to red runner? Thx u for your time

In my experience, B. dubia aren't ideal for GBBs. They play dead and dig in the substrate and my GBB didn't really want to hunt for them.
I had much more luck with red runners and eventually mealworms, just throw them directly at the webbing to prevent from burrowing.

Dubia play dead too often, even with crushed head. I am frustated with them. Do you drop the red runner into the web or just let them run around the enclosure?

Somewhere on the web near the spider. Not that it would matter, I think.

I have an adult female that I have raised from a 1/2" sling that has only been fed dubai roaches. Never had any issues and scoops them up as soon as I drop in, crazy feeding response. Try crushing the heads so they don't burrow.

Different specimen with different character. Mine would also take them but I'd have to put much more effort into convincing him to eat.

I just dropped a dubia into the web. She came and put one leg on the dubia and left uneaten. She last ate a week ago. Maybe she is too busy building her nest. I will see tomorrow if she eats the dubia. If not will drop a larger one in 3-4 days. I am ordering lats.

My GBB tales them but we typically do crickets or red runners. If a GBB doesn't instantly pounce all the above issues appear

My female has only ever had dubia. I always drop them right in front of her, and if hungry, she'll grab it. If not, I'll remove it with tongs after I'm done feeding the rest of the Ts for that day.

My female is an older specimen but she is an off and off eater. One day she'll grab prey, the next time she won't touch anything which can be annoying sometimes, but that's how mines is, so I recommend just trying every other day to see if yours eat.

dubai roaches
This is a mistake beginners make. It's "Dubia" roaches and not "Dubai" roaches. Dubia roaches come from South America and they do not live or come close to being from Dubai. I hope this helps properly label Dubia roaches and their origins.

I feed all (4) of my GBB's dubia weekly. Slightly crush the heads and drop in. They work great. If your GBB is not coming after it then it's most likely not hungry, in premolt, or you have something else going on.

Post pic of your GBB and your entire enclosure if you want everyone to offer anymore advice

Can you do locusts where you live? They are great for webbers and arboreals, because they usually flee upwards. Much easier to retrieve in case the spider doesn't pounce right away.

Not all Ts go for roaches, it's specimen dependent IME.

My pulchra was very picky at first, she only ate crickets... after only mealworms. Now she eats everything but only if the prey is moving freely in the enclosure... if you trow her a lateralis she kicks the roach with the front legs and leaves her to scape, but if she feels them wandering in the enclosure she hunts them.

She ate the dubia last night. I always crushed the head before dropping them into the web. 🙏🏻👍🏻😀

I’m having the same issues. I feed my 5 slings on B.lateralis roaches and the feeding response is strong. But when I try to feed my slings B.dubias...the response is rather lack-luster at best.

They’ll take the roaches, but not with the same gusto...:bag:
