Can you overfeed a sling/juvenile to the point it's obese?

The T in question may go into premolt soon (probably next week if she is on the same schedule as before) and her bum literally drags on the ground. I have no idea how she can get around, but she sits on her cork begging for food, and she will eat every day if I feed her (guess the species XD ).

Shall I just wait a couple weeks or however long to her next molt?

Ya think? My poor kid thought a hornet got into the enclosure. It was the GBB's giant shiny butt.

You can't overfeed slings, so no worry there. A fat sling is a healthy sling, it all goes towards growth on the next molt.

They will refuse food when they've had enough, some of mine have eaten as soon as one day before molting.

A search would have yielded probably 1000 posts saying...you cannot over feed a sling.

Slings are putting everything toward growth and are molting with good frequency. Because of this, being fat is a huge advantage. A sling that comes through a molt plump, has a head start toward the next molt, meaning faster growth.

Its the opposite for an adult that's molting every 6 months to 3 or more years. In this case, when an adult comes through a molt still fat, its just a head start toward a life of obesity. Its really hard to reverse this, as a fat freshly molted t, is just as ravenously hungry....its hard to limit food to a freshly molted and ravenously hungry t.

I know everyone says that...but—day-yam—she fat. Okay...

What length should she be before I start to worry about this eating behavior turning her to a life of obesity? Do some slings eat up to the time when they molt? Because that is what her butt is starting look like—over-inflated and shiny. Watching it slide around after her like an over-inflated spider butt balloon makes me a little nervous.

My kid told me today, "Mom, she's no longer cute." :(

Hmmmm... Your at baby sling pics are making me feel better. Mine has gotten to the point she just sits out and begs for mealworms all the time. She doesn't even hunt anymore. She just raises her pedipalps and slowly takes them (not grabs) like, "Ermegosh... I'm so full, but I wanna eat mere foooooood!"

I was starting to feel like a terrible enabler. But I agree. My kid needs to redefine "cute."

Thank you, Everyone, for the advice and reassurance. Here's our girl doing her engorged tick impression (she looked even bigger the other day). It makes me wonder what will happen when she molts next. It's really fun seeing a small sling change—big bum and all. I think this is why I could easily add more slings to our clutter in a year or two (especially if we end up with males). :D
