Hi fellow friends!

Not much online about the habitat for the Androctonus bicolor. I’ve read a few sites here and there where they talk about keeping them moist, but other sites talk about arid dry. What gives?

Recommended temp? Substrate?

Any recommendations are appreciated.

I keep mine on 3-4" deep substrate of decomposed granite I dug up. Surface dry with a straw in corner to pour water into, Creating a moist sub layer. Kept hot in the 90's. Almost always burrows in corner with most sub grade moisture

When it comes to the habitat of any species. Simply finding where they are from gives u everything you need to know

All bicolor in the US have come from Egypt imports . They come from mostly dry terrain. Very rocky in some places and sandy in others.

Temps in captivity should stay within the upper 80s or lower 90s

Wow, I hadn’t thought of the idea on using a straw technique to keep a moist sub layer. Then, having a dry sub layer on the top of that. Very creative! I’ll have to try this out. Thank you!
