So about a week ago, I was given about 20 or so hisser nymphs, all under half an inch. Now many of them are close to, if not over, an inch! I'm surprised at how fast these buggies are growing! Do all roaches grow this fast? Do some species grow super fast, while others grow really slow? Or is it more based on the conditions they are kept in? I've got them sitting in front of my uromastyx tank, so they get a bit of extra warmth...

well its funny, cuz a friend of mine gave me some
Dubia Roaches and within about 2 weeks mine were 2-3 times bigger than hers from the same group, i have mine fed with alot of healthy proteins and heat and hers are fed some blend of this and that and kept at really high temps. so i would assume that growth rate is hugely dependent on proper food/water and heat. i bet her that mine would grow faster than hers and after like 5 days she backed out of the bet becuz she realized that mine were growing like weeds.

What rusty said. While some species do mature more slowly than others (ie. cave roaches grow very slowly compared to say, lateralis), temperature (too low OR too high will stunt) and feeding are both massive factors in growth rate. I received some very neglected hissers who were over a month old and only 2i because the previous owner kept them too cold and fed them all the wrong things. On the other hands, the ones I breed & raise here seem to grow constantly.
