Can hardly see to write this....
While doing afternoon rounds I've just found "Gladys" our ancient MM G.rosea upside down and stuck in his post-ultimate molt. He isn't moving at all...very dead. He was 3 years past his ultimate molt and still spinning sperm webs up until just a month ago...
The old Patriarch of our collection was truly loved above all the others...he was the individual responsible for the assembly our entire collection, passion and the eventual start up of our Throne Room Invertebrates business. He was single leggedly responsible for helping me over my arachnophobia; enabling me to become the BugMomma. He spent many visits being held and cooed over by autistic school children in their class presentations and will be missed so greatly.
I'm crying like a baby as I write this and I can't imagine being more sad about any other pet. He was truly important; and in many ways my savior. Because of him, I no longer live in terror of his kind.

Never underestimate the value of your rosies.... They are in many ways the foundation of our shared love of this hobby.
He will be given a proper burial in the back yard right along with our other lost friends.

Sometimes even the most unlikely creature can steal our heart, and make us long for their return.

My sympathies, and my heart go out to you and yours.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this! :(

Its so hard to lose pets, even after they've lived a good life. And your rosie especially, with all the good he's done for so many people.

The story about his visits to the autistic children is on our Vet Tech bulletin board at our college - even now he's still teach many people about Tarantulas.

*HUGS* Again, so sorry to hear about your loss. At least you know he lived a very full life, and you were able to keep him well cared for throughout. He was a lucky T to be valued and cared for so much.

No one can take away the pain that you're feeling right now, but I hope we can help take away some of the loneliness that accompanies such a loss.

Thanks you so much for understanding what it means to lose a truly beloved pet... He was definitely O.T..... (original tarantula) *thumpschest*

I was brought to tears all over again when I read that his story is still being shared on the college bulletin. I wish I could just hug you all right through the screen.....
This is the closest I can get ........> XOXOXOXOXOXOXOX

You guys are so wonderful to me..Thank you so much. :worship:

Gladys the Unlikely Hero is buried under the maple tree out back, along with Fast Eddie the 6.5 year old rat. We take good care of our boys around here..lol.
His picture will be framed and hung in the the T.room where he always enjoyed the best spot...

Blessings to you all...

The Unexpected Heir to the Throne Room...lol

"Dorothy" the 2+" girl rosea; whom we have had in our collection for about two years - but was not paid much extra attention to; has molted! On a lark, I actually sat down and sexed the exo....only to find that Dorothy is a BOY! {D

*In honor of Gladys the Hero-Tarantula....We've decided to leave the name unchanged. :D
