Elvria (A.hentzi) got some new siblings last week thanks to Rochelle. Fancy is her well loved juvi A.metallica girl. She made the journey along with a B.smithi sling and a B.emilia sling, Sweetpea and Emily respectively.
While everyone else was happily munching on crickets Fancy was fancying herself quite the web in her new home all week ignoring her "welcome home" meal. A few days later she has closed herself in on both ends. I thought that was a sign of premolt so I went ahead and spared the cricket (seeing as it had survived three days with her I figured he deserved to roam free - outside of course) and left her alone. Today I came home from work, turn to say hello to the "kids" and holy cow my spider split in two! LOL Just kidding, she molted!! It was the coolest thing ever and my first time to see it. She was about half-way through and I dropped everything to sit and watch.
Here is a pic of her during the molt (and the molt) as well as the itty bitty ones. Sorry the photos are not the best - I used the coolpix and it is okay normally but even my super-duper camera that can freeze a 100mph hockey puck (I shoot for the NHL) couldn't catch a spider molt in slow-mo thanks to the funky curve of her enclosure and where she chose to make her web. :wall: Seven grand camera :wall: no good picture :wall: LOL
