My P. regalis is a TOTAL spaz.. anytime even a shadow passes over his enclosure, he goes nuts.. runs around, tries to clamour through webbing.. very ungracefully.

Last feeding, he refused food.

Tonight, he is in a death curl :(

I misted his enclosure and put it in a warmer spot... but my hopes are not up *sigh*

This is so sad and I'm so sorry. I think maybe you should make a post kind of explaining everything that has gone on in the last couple/few weeks as far as what has changed for your T's. We need to try and identify the problem to make sure its not something you are doing on accident. There are a lot more t's that we need to keep healthy.

Throw him in some water ASAP

Well not literally, but if you have a good sized shallow water dish then fill it up and place him on top of it. My 5-legged male P. regalis has been in a complete curl before, he would only just wiggle his legs barely. I threw him in the waterbowl, he drank immediately and his abdomen swelled up quickly. By the next day he was fully mobile again. He's still kickin' today.

Not sure why it would act so spaztic. I can tell you that moving him to a warmer spot will probably only dehydrate him faster though. You should find that cooling down temps will help a lot. Good luck.

Thanks guys :(

Good idea, Jake.. I was so.. dispirited when I posted that I didn't even think to post what has been going on. And thank you for looking up about baby powder...

Does anyone know if just using baby powder (on a baby, so not a lot) in the same room as Ts a few times would kill them?

The only other thing I can think of is that maybe he did internal damage spazzing around his cage? I think he fell from the top during spazzing more than once.. and the container is 5" tall, but there is moss and unpacked substrate at the bottom (not too hard, maybe?).

Let's see... I have been misting on the normal routine (daily, or every other day).

My P. pederseni just molted... maybe the P. regalis is having a problem with pre-molt? Maybe the baby powder in the air dried him out just enough to affect his molt?

ETA: I took too long to post, and didn't get to read Code's before I pressed enter... but his abdomen isn't shriveled? Was yours before you put him on the water? And no, no chance to breed... he's only 1.5" or maybe even a little less :( Let me go check on him, and after him water.. thanks for the help

My P. regalis (which should be a sac mate of yours) is a spaz of sorts also. He runs around any time you get near him but he has also made a hide out of half his container to where he doesn't see much.

Mine did molt last weekend so yours could be in premolt of sorts.

I don't know aside from that. Yours and mine are in nearly identical containers, substrate from the same bag, moss from the same bag, everything is identical except where they are kept, mine are here and yours is with you.

The other difference is the water we each use to spray. I use bottled water from the store.

I believe you were using tap water from your last house which was from a municipal source. I happen to know that both the last two municipal sources of water you had access to didn't use chemicals, or at least used them very very minimaly. Both sources used mechanical filtration.

What I'm getting at is what kind of water are you using now? Is it city water from the tap? Maybe chlorinated? That could be a problem too.

My apologies, for some reason when I read your thread I assumed it was a mature "he".

I do remember back when mine were slings, and yes they were always very spazzy. Might just want to put him in an undisturbed dark area for a while. Again, good luck.

Code - I just set him over a bowl of water, and he SHOVED his face into it and is still drinking... THANK YOU. I don't know if it's going to save him, but he is atleast showing some activity and life.

He does appear to be in premolt, he's pretty dull looking. Is your pederseni in premolt? Because mine just molted lol

The water here is straight from a well... just filtered, no chemicals.

PLEASE keep yalls fingers crossed.. and Code, if he makes it - I owe you some slings or something haha

ETA: Did it again lol. No problem, I usually refer to all my slings as one sex or another.. not sure how I decide.. it just happens LOL

Gonna go check on him again...

The fact that it is drinking water to me is very positive. I feel good about the outcome of this. Maybe I need to see about putting water dishes in with my regalis and perderseni.

If he survives this, I am definitely going to add water dishes to everyone's enclosures.

I realized, most say anything 2" and up is big enough for a water dish (though some people keep water dishes with slings, some don't even keep em with adults, etc. lol).. I didn't realize these guys were that large until I measured them today. So I think water bowls are needed anyways. Jake, do you remember where all my bottles with the caps went?! LOL

This sooo reminds me of something I saw today!! I was at the LPS getting some crickets and I saw a 6-7 inch T blondi in a death curl still kinda moving but they didnt have NOOOO water bowl!!! I thought it was for sure dead and the moving might have been just twitching.. I offered some advice but the girls there were to afraid to do it.. I didnt know what else to do for them.. I might go back tomorrow and see if it is still sorta twitching IF so I am going to try and offer it a water bowl while I am there..

OH I hope your baby gets better...

I feel like a TERRIBLE T owner... ... because he is acting MUCH better after drinking from the water dish. I almost killed my T, because he didn't have enough water. :(

He has left the water dish now and is back to a "normal" position :D

Code - THANK YOU again for suggesting something so simple that I should have already done lol

That poor T. blondi! Hopefully you can go back tomorrow and try to help it :(

What bottles? The viles or some others? Most all your containers and T stuff is in your big bags of containers still in my storage room.

And so glad he is doing better. I need to get dishes in my guys too asap. I've been real good about misting the sides of the enclosure often and with the humidity in my house at 60% all the time mine should be ok.

Okay guys... I need some opinions :(

He isn't in a death curl... he is in the exact opposite..? His legs are tense, and then he'll twitch and all the legs will stick straight up and over his back..?

I tried to take pictures, but my camera told me to jump off a cliff... here are the best..

This was right at the end of a "twitch" when his legs were slowly going back down.. you can see one is still sticking straight up.

What's going on with my sling? :'(
