Not like tossed two live ones in with the intent of a death match. But perhaps one died for no apparent reason and you knew/had reason to believe it wasn't diseased or anything. Ever just fed the corpse to another T?

There aren't a lot of things on this planet that freak me out...

But the thought of feeding one of my ts one of my dead ts....

There isn't a conceivable situation where I would "feed" one tarantula to another.

If they were both live, it's irresponsible.

If one died, it COULD have died from some sort of pathogen.

REGARDLESS, the answer is no, I would never feed one T to another.

Is there a particular reason you're asking this question?
If someone had done it, what is it that you are curious about?

Never done it but in the case of hatchlings maybe..say 2000 L.p. babies. A few are bound to die in which case I'm sure a opportunistic cannibal wouldn't mind eating a dead brother or sister.

Never have never will, not only is it risky but it also seems wrong

I personally couldn't and wouldn't, I get the sling and mating thing, cause at some point being kept together slings will eat the dead ones and during mating the female has a huge chance to eat the male, in both they respects it's very hard for it not to happen, plus they do in the wild, but as said you never know what the dead T could have so in my view not worth it.

I've read about people with too many slings feeding the weaker, smaller ones to other T's.

Are you referring to the practice of allowing a sac to "cull" itself? If so, it's not so much feeding the slings to each other, as just letting it happen naturally...

No, I've never thought about it. But I do have my enclosures next to one another and have wondered if they look over and think, yum I want to eat that. I'm assuming with their poor eye sight they probably don't.

Sounds like breeding gone wrong. LOL

I'm not sure. I kind of read it in passing. But it almost sounded like they fed it to other tarantulas. At least how it was worded. It's been a while. Probably just read it wrong.

I'm in favor of culling a sac, particularly when the babies number in the high-hundreds to thousands.

I'd not feed one spider to another spider in the manner the OP described. I was talking to a coworker today who did that with a large T he had. He fed smaller T's that he found to it (not routinely, just when he happened across one). I wouldn't personally do it but I don't think he was awful for doing it. He was after all doing what his big T might have done in the wild. Big spider eats smaller spider, that's just the way it is. He didn't buy feeders, he just fed what he could catch.

I think that's the difference between us as hobbyists as those who have one or two T's because they came across them and thought they'd be neat to keep, but don't view them as a pet the way most of us do.

Blame Tapatalk + "smart" phone for the typos kthnx

I only have one T right now but I definitely don't just feel towards him as something I just found and thought it'd be neat. It's kind of hard to view him as an actual pet sometimes just because he's SOOO reclusive. I rarely ever see him. :[

I have no ethical objections with someone feeding a dead T to a live one at all.... their bugs, their choice. I personally wouldn't try it but that's got more to do with not knowing what the T died from rather than my own squeamishness.
