I've been looking at getting a 0.5" PZB, and I'm wondering, what's their growth rate like? For instance, when can I expect to see adult colors?

This one has been on my most wanted list since I got into T's. Extremely hard to find, (I missed 2 opportunities in the past).

They are considered slow growers. One thing I had to learn when I got into keeping tarantulas is patience. It's a requirement and you will learn to develop it.

I know that the PZB is a slow grower and I am fine with waiting a while. That being said, I like hard numbers for me to plan and think about. It helps me be more patient or whatever.

slow, nobody can really give you hard numbers.

In addition to Brachypelmas, Grammostolas, and Aphonopelmas, this species is considered one of the slowest growing tarantulas out there.

Everything I've ever heard said it was a very slow grower. Definitely a species I hope to add at some point.

I have one. Picked it up in June 2020 as a 1/2” sling. It has molted 3 times in my care since then and is now about 1.75”

worth noting that yours may grow faster, slower, or much slower than mine has depending on many factors

That's slow, but not quite as slow as I would've thought. Interesting.

Well I got mine as a half inch sling 5 years ago. It's around 3.5 inches now

Got mine last summer. It was maybe a half inch at the time. It's molted twice, possibly three times since then I think it might be a whole .75" now.
It's like watching paint dry.

Plants grow faster. It's a beautiful species with (generally speaking) a sweet temperament, but they grow really slow and stop feeding very easy before that. Mine has stopped feeding for a year before finally molting. Never kicked hairs or anything though. But be ready to have a small spider for a loooong time.
