Hi all
Yesterday, my female exemplar of Eudicella Euthelia went out from its cocoon, but she had some problems: it walked badly in a first time and it died after five minutes...what kind of problem had it?What's happened?

Eudicella beetles are very sensitive to incorrect conditions. But I expect that the main problem was inbred. I had many similar loses while I was working in Warsaw ZOO.

Hmmm... so You are more experienced with that genus than me.
As I know, also from the other keepers of that beetle, that there are always problems with high mortality rate of Eudicella larvae (not only cannibalism). There are also high losses during and just after pupation. Newly emerged beetles are weak and quickly die. So if you had only one case, you shouldn't worry. It is possible that you've got 'fresh' population and you didn't noticed problems mentioned earlier.
