I noticed my euathlus species red curled up like this. She always has access to water and I throw in a cricket every 2 weeks being that this species doesn't eat that often, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks ImageUploadedByTapatalk1423001580.809137.jpg

I bought her at a reptile expo in October of 2013, and she was already full grown at about 3 inches, so it could be old age.

More pics. It looks leggy, it may be an adult male.

Get a picture of the pedipalps.

Don't be worried about manipulating the tarantula for the photo, very docile specie.

Also the pose it's displaying is say is a stress pose, all limbs will tuck ander the spider when it's a death curl.

Has the spider been lethargic? Clumbsy in its movement? Struggling to grapple prey items?

She hasn't been displaying any clumsy or dks symptoms .. She moves normally .. But she seems to hang out in certain spots for long periods of time for hours

To me it looks like something has her stressed out.

Or its getting close to molting.
Yea looking at the photos the colours are rather drab can't tell if the abdomen is starting to darken from the pics though, along with lethargy it all points towards a molt.

The heavy webbing on the tank furnishing I that recent?

Oh ok ... The webbing was done like 7 months ago, she hasn't webbed in a while... She hasn't molted in the 1 year and 3 months that I've had her... I'm not sure when her last molt was.... Thanks again

Well as it's a E. Sp. 'red' I'd imagine it was a WC specimen, as majority are.

My AF is moulting roughly every 2 years so I wouldn't be surprised if it was an impending molt.

yikes, hmm.. Kind of hard to say, I would be leaning towards a molt so in that case I would try to raise her humidity and keep the temp at a steady 80F if possible, best of luck, I hope she pulls through! :)

Don't think it's a MM. This species has tibial hooks and I don't see any in those pictures. Does the T dig? These like to dig their own burrows, preferably under a piece of corkbark for example. They don't really accept pre-designed hides like a half-log most of the time. I'd try to keep a quarter of the cage moist, the mother of my slings (as well as my slings themself) are kept that way and the T frequently changes where they sit. To me, it could be old age since the abdomen does look a bit on the thinner side leading to assume that T hasn't eaten really lately. Premolt would an option too.

Thanks guys for the posts .. Yea I usually keep a corner of of one side moist and the rest of her cage dry to give her the option where she wants to be...I have a skull hide in her enclosure and she has dug some of it out when I peek through with my flashlight. I just hope it's a pre molt she's such a sweat heart and she's so friendly . I love her so much, I'll keep it around 80 degrees like u said and I'll provide some humidity in one corner of her cage thanks again everyone
