I got this Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi or at least I was told thats what it is. But somebody in my picture thread said it doesn't look like one.

Easy, pal. I said "to me it doesn't really look like one", but pictures can be deceiving (especially because yours seem to lack some color). Personally, even if they look "washed out" before a molt, they still have some very distinctive features that seperate them from other, close looking species.

For comparison, this is my 4,5" female:

This pic lacks color too as an example:

This is what threw me off - the E. pulcherrimaklaasi doesn't have that that pronounced mirror on the abdomen:

Which is why I'm kinda suspecting some Paraphysa spp. on your end maybe? Again - I could be totally wrong and if others want to chime in, please do so.

Also I don't see stripes on patella. Mine looks like storm's exactly.

Hard to impossible to ID from photos, but looks very similar to the two I have as E. pulcherimaklaasi, immature.

Like I said, I could be wrong. But the mirror patch isn't visible on any of those that I've seen. Does yours show it, Joyce? Can't see it from the pic you posted.

Oh, yeah, heck of a mirror patch. These are from over a year ago, not wonderful pics, but show the mirror patch.

I see mirror patch on n0rmal's spider, too. Appears to be thinned(?) from kicking(?) decorating(?)

yea mine has the mirror patch thinned out some mostly from kicking/wear and tear plus i forgot to add this is a juv at only ~3" and he(suspected) is in heavy pre molt. the redish/orange stripes are faintly visable on the knees but very hard to capture in the photos

These have to be among the slowest growing of all my slow growers, Aphonopelma and Grammostola sp included. Even as small slings, they seriously self-limited in the grocery department. Never any danger of them over eating! LOL

Interesting, Joyce. My girl certainly doesn't have a visible mirror patch -at all-? This is just another in the series of questions about this species that linger on my mind really...*sigh* I wish, Dr. Perez-Miles would answer my mail :(

well he just molted.. comfirmed male and i do believe it is a Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi without a doubt, the femurs are a purplish blue color, hard to capture in a picture but very stunning under light.

I'm still thrown off by the reddish hair your's has all over. The ones I've seen as "real" don't have -any- red on them except for the flames on the patella. The hairs are greyish/silvery else. However, I remember a thread over here in some forum with a discussion about a species that looked similiar except for those red hairs - (I did link it in the other E. pulcherrimaklaasi thread and I think Stuart was also kinda interested in that subject). Aside those reddish hairs - I'd agree to you, n0rmal.
